Here’s a verse-by-verse representation of the song Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, using pictures from Spooks/MI-5
[the link will take you to the song on Youtube, in a separate window, so you can play it in the background while following along with the lyrics in this post]
The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
it’s strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I’d meet somebody like you
I never dreamed that I’d lose somebody like you
No, I don’t want to fall in love
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No, I don’t want to fall in love
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you.
What a wicked game you played, to make me feel this way
What a wicked thing to do, to let me dream of you
What a wicked thing to say, you never felt this way
What a wicked thing to do, to make me dream of you
And I don’t want to fall in love
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No, I don’t want to fall in love
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you.
The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
it’s strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I’d love somebody like you
I never dreamed that I’d lose somebody like you
No, I don’t want to fall in love
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
With you.
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
No, I…
(this girl is only gonna break your heart)
Somehow you managed to take a romantic pairing I don’t believe in and never liked, and make me feel it and care about it. Should I have listened to the song as I read?I will now.

I include a link to the song in case anyone is not familiar with the tune or wants to follow along. I don’t like this romantic pairing either, as most others don’t, so my intent was to make us care through certain lyrics, music, and arrangement of pictures 😉

I have to start listening to the music you post with your blogs. Never heard of the song.

Kelbel/Perry – Actually the song truly helps. Although we may not care what she feels (okay, well, “I” don’t), we do about him, and I think that is exactly why the song works perfectly.
However, I have memories of another kind for the song and it’s association with the movie “Wild at Heart”, which pushed Chris Isaac as a break-out artist at the time.

Ha! Truly. The movie both sizzles and disturbs – typical Lynch.

May I suggest my this amazing and haunting version by Rebecca Ferguson.
It really is stunning. It’s from the UK XFactor which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but she and James Arthur are one of my favourite singers and I would have never heard of them if it wasn’t for the show.

the Chris Isaak version was very popular when I was in High School. I remember the video making an erotic impact on me, so I’m afraid nothing is going to top his version for me! unless maybe if Richard would sing it…

Yes, I can only think of Chris Isaac for this song.

Blast from the past. That song is unforgettable, mainly due to the sexy video that featured supermodel Helena Christensen and a very fit looking Isaac himself, frollicking on a beach. So yeah, the soundtrack is great for the dream.

yes, it was a very nice video 😎

I’d forgotten about that video! Just watched it again and oh baby!!! 😉 Your idea of having Richard sing it took on a whole new meaning especially if he could be talked into a similar video! I’m *so* bad!!

Absolutely *love it* Kelbel!!!!! I have this on my iPhone as I always liked the song and Chris Isaak’s voice. Like many others I honestly never thought the Lucas/Sarah pairing would do anything for me. Now of course, with this song, my mind will have these lovely Luscious Lucas connotations each time I listen to it, so thanks a million!! *sigh*

relating Lucas to this song, will enhance an already great image

It really does. And with this discussion, I can now imagine Richard singing it, and the prospect of such an idea is wonderfully dizzying.

I’m really liking the idea of Richard singing it too! he has the perfect voice for something so haunting.

Yes, perfect his register I think.

Lucas and Sarah are such beautiful people.

I’m not a fan of Sarah’s; they were an Oasis of sorts for each other though, so I can understand it.

I seem to remember suggesting this song about 3 weeks ago, although I associated it with Guy and Marian, but of course it applies equally to Lucas and Sarah.
I love what you’ve done with it 🙂

yes, you’re the one who got the song stuck in my head. then Richard’s new hair style reminded me of Chris Isaak, and so I just had to use the song!

Now that would be worth seeing! I can’t get that song out of my head now and even listened to it in bed late last night with my “ear-buds” in! Sadly I didn’t dream about Lucas! 😦

Richard’s new hair was the fluffy one, right? I had to look at pics on Google, he changed his looks a lot in the last years – for work or otherwise.
Anyway, thank you for the visuals : no accent here 😉 and as I said in another thread, they look good together. 🙂
