Alphabet Movie challenge: day 17
Quote that inspires
“Home isn’t where you live. It’s where people understand you. If I don’t have trust from MI-5…then I’ll never really be home. I’ll just be back in England.”
I don’t live close to where I grew up and where the majority of my relatives are. I don’t have the connections for myself or my children that one gets when living among relatives and all that is familiar. I visit often but once you leave, it’s never really the same again. This quote from Lucas resonates with me because of that. “Home” is where you make it and “Family” doesn’t have to be biological.
non-Armitage answer: from The Shawshank Redemption
“There’s something inside they can’t get to, that they can’t touch.
That’s yours. Hope.”
That’s such a beautiful quote. As an expat in love exile I can totally agree with it – although I say it like you do, Kel, having found a home away from the place I was once familiar with. Poor Lucas – for him it was the other way ’round.

yes, because Headquarters *is* basically his home, if he can’t trust anyone there then he is without a home, because they are the only ones who could possibly understand him. sad all the way around 😦

That definitely is one of favorite quotes of Lucas’ as well! And same with the Shawshank Redemption one, although I also like Gandalf’s words to Frodo about what to do with the time that is given to us.

yes, I really like that one from Gandalf as well (I tear up every time I hear it!). another from Shawshank that I like is the one about “pressure and time”.

Very nice! I love that quote also. I am lucky to have lots of people who understand and trust me around. Very lucky! 😀
