Danke

So, supersonicsonja from the Off to NewZealand blog nominated me, amongst others, for the Liebster blogging award. that’s German for favorite or beloved. aww, I feel all warm and fuzzy now!

I said warm and fuzzy, not stuffed and itchy

This award is intended to spread the blogging love and promote other blogs by linking to the person who nominated you, nominating 5 or more blogs yourself, answering a set of questions that were posed to you and then coming up with your own questions for those you nominate. I love answering questions! (as my list of many “challenges” clearly shows!) and so I’ve spent a happy morning completing this fun task, instead of the terrifying task I had planned of cleaning my 10 year old daughter’s room

just don’t look, it’s safer that way

so let’s get down to business, because you know I”m not going to give one word answers to these things, it might take awhile… The rules are as follows:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you and link their blog into your post.

  2. Answer 11 questions which you have been asked by the nominating blogger.

  3. Nominate 5 to 11 other bloggers who have less than 1.000 followers.

  4. Add a new list of 11 questions for the nominated bloggers.

  5. Paste these rules into your post.

  6. Make sure your nominees know about your post and their nomination.

on to the list of questions that were asked of me, with my answers. these ones are all music based.

1.) What are you listening to right now?

Hozier’s “Take Me to Church”

I really like both the sound and the lyrics to this song, it’s a little depressing but comforting at the same time. I prefer the upfront romantic view of the song instead of the vast world issues angle, but particularly the way he uses the word church to illustrate his feelings of adoration and struggle in regards to the relationship. I watched the video to this song once and it was not what I expected it to be (as seems to be the case more and more these days), it was about a relationship that wasn’t the social norm but focused more on the reactions of society: two gay men who were hunted down by their bigoted neighbors and made to pay a horrible price for their relationship. very sad and upsetting.

2.) Song that gives you the creeps? Why?

The Cost of Freedom by Crosby, Stills, and Nash & Young

The lyrics to this one always scared me as a child, “Mother Earth will swallow you, lay your body down”. I always pictured a black hole type effect of everything in my house being sucked down into a bottomless pit or something *Eeek!*

3.) What’s your favorite country and who would feature in a soundtrack for that country?

My favorite country(besides my own) would be Scotland and the song that would have to be on the soundtrack is Toad the Wet Sprocket’s “Windmills”. When I took my trip to Scotland this past summer I had an excellent view from the air of all the big white windmills, as the plane circled to land. as fate would have it, this song was playing on my mp3 player. So now I always associate this song with Scotland.

4.) Which song do you put on when you have to do a chore (like tidying up)?

Beastie Boys “Brass Monkey” ! Beastie Boys are fun and impossible to sit still to. I don’t dance per se, but I do jerk my head and arms around to the beat while dramatically reciting the dialogue parts of the song. it’s always embarrassing when someone witnesses it, for both them and me.

5.) Up-tempo or slow?

Generally I prefer slow but I do like to listen to dance music occasionally too. I don’t like things that are too noisy though (my younger Punk Rock loving self is rolling her eyes at that statement)

6.) If you could be part of a band (past and present) which one would you choose?

“Spice Girls” because I wanted to be each of them, at one time or another

7.) Vinyl or Digital? Why?

Digital because the sound quality is better and it’s more convenient. I do have a deep appreciation for Vinyl though. When I was young one of my favorite pasttimes was listening to my collection of 45rpms that my aunts handed down to me. there was everything in there: Carly Simon, Don McLean, The Kinks, Elvis, The Jackson Five and random goofy songs like “The Purple People Eater” and “Yackety-Yak”. good times!

8.) Think of your favorite non-music artist/hero/person from history- which song reminds you of him/her?

My favorite person from history would have to be Abraham Lincoln. Aside from his accomplishments as President during the Civil War, he was also a very witty guy who was full of comforting wisdom. The song I’d pick to associate with him would be The Beatles “Let it Be”.

9.) Favorite genre of music?

I really like the softer acoustic stuff, this generally falls within the Rock genre for me.

10.) The first ever concert you went to?

Def Leppard, the “Hysteria” tour. I was greatly impressed with the laser light show. my favorite song came from an earlier album though, “Photograph”. those lyrics still seem relevant to my life…

11.) Your top 10 playlist *ever*?

way to throw in an easy question there at the end. Holy Cannoli! I’m not sure I can do that question justice without a whole heck of a long time to think first, so just off the top of my head I’ll go with these ones:

Wild Boys by Duran Duran

The Wind by Cat Stevens

She’s the One by World Party

Shaking the Tree by Peter Gabriel

Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

All You Need is Love by The Beatles

Haunted by Shane MacGowan & Sinead O’Connor

Won’t Go Home Without You by Maroon 5

Changes by David Bowie

Call and Answer by BareNaked Ladies

Okay, now the next part:

who I’m nominating and the set of questions that I’m asking them. now you may have noticed that this is a Richard Armitage inspired blog. so I pretty much stay within the RA fandom circle because my Internet time is too lengthy as it is. I don’t have time to venture out into other worlds much and when I do, well, I get easily distRActed.

meercat gif: did someone say richard armitage?

So while some of the people I’m nominating blog about things other than Richard Armitage, their blogs all include him as well. I’m nominating:

FunkyBlueDandelion

RichardTreeHouse

Obsessive Behavior

Preoccupied with Armitage

Ancient Armitage

I’ve tried to tailor at least some of my 11 questions to each of their interests, besides Richard Armitage, but I’ve included some about him too- along with a few random ones. Please don’t feel like you have to participate if coming up with the answers is stressful or time consuming for you, this is just supposed to be something fun. (I’ll be answering these questions myself in another post, because I’m me and I can’t pass up a questionnaire, even if I made it myself!

1.) Is there a song that you like different versions, i.e.covers of?  which is your favorite?

2.) What is something you’re afraid of that you’d like to force yourself to face?

3.)  What is your favorite footware of Richard’s?

4.) What is your favorite photography subject to view? (flowers, buildings, etc. not RA)

5.) What is a habit of yours that you’d like to break?

6.) Have you ever had a dream about Richard Armitage? share a short summary

7.) What was the first professional play/musical that you saw and how did it affect you?

8.) What has been your least favorite pet that you’ve owned and why?

9.) If you could insert yourself into a RA film as an original character, which would it be and how would you effect the outcome of the story?

10.) What is your favorite movie about classical mythology?

11.) share a random Richard Armitage related confession

Okay, I’m done.

Gisborne, knocked out on the ground

*I just noticed that FunkyBlueDandelion was nominated from the same person I was. very cool since the questions were all music based but not so cool that I repeated the nomination. see what I mean: distRActed…

  1. Ah – love this, Kelly! You answered perfectly – and there are a good few answers/songs I can relate to, too. Thanks for giving us an insight into your tastes – and linking Richard in in your own inimitable way!
I love the questions you picked for Armitageworld. Ha, I am tempted to do the little challenge, just for the fun of it (and without linking others in)…

    1. I’m going to do a separate post where I answer my own questions, because I”m self-involved like that…so you can choose a few to answer in the comments there, if you don’t want to do a whole post 🙂

  2. I am also honored. I just told myself I HAD to get off the internet and accomplish something but first I’ll just see what Kelly has to say. I do need to do a few things but I will definitely be back with some answers 😀

As usual I really enjoyed your post. Your captions are awesome!
