Fanvid Friday: See What I’ve Become

I haven’t done a Fanvid Friday in awhile but thanks to a retweet of this video that I saw on Twitter, I couldn’t resist!

See What I’ve Become by MsEleanorShelby

This video is superbly done, I have to say that first and foremost! it’s almost like a show-reel of some of Richard’s most dramatic performances but put together in such a way that it becomes it’s own performance.

The opening scene sets the mood: Thorin opens the door to Erebor, bathed in dusty light with blackness all around. a simple low-key piano rhythm keeps time with the flash of several different character faces. (the voice over is part of the original song here) then a black screen with the words “see what I’ve become”. and the ride begins!

String instruments speed up the music. lightening type effects match drum beats. and we start to hear sound bites from our favorite characters to go along with the poignant scenes chosen.

Guy: you do not speak to me!

Lucas: You destroyed me and then you chose to let me live!

I owe you nothing!

We follow Robin’s arrow as we hear him scream, “Gisborne!” and now everything is stepped up into a climatic frenzy! several recognizable scenes flash before us: Thorin blocking Bilbo’s way with his sword, Lucas breaking down a door, Thornton facing an angry mob, Porter punching Collinson… then the eyes. Thornton’s eyes. Lucas’ eyes. Thorin’s eyes. Guy’s eyes. and as we come back down, we follow the image of footsteps down the hallway.

LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this fanvid!

please hop on over to youtube and give it a “thumbs up”! and be sure to check out her other Richard Armitage fanvid as well, it’s full of Richard’s smiles. it will make you smile, I guarantee it!

  1. I rarely like fanvids (my problem, not that of the makers by any means) but I did like this one.
The title of this song immediately made me think of Evanescence, ‘Wake Me Up’. The lyrics are even more appropriate imo (especially for Lucas, Porter, Thorin and Gisborne)

how can you see into my eyes like open doors
leading you down into my core
where I’ve become so numb without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
until you find it there and lead it back home

    (Wake me up)
    Wake me up inside
    (I can’t wake up)
    Wake me up inside
    (Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
    (Wake me up)
    bid my blood to run
    (I can’t wake up)
    before I come undone
    (Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

now that I know what I’m without
    you can’t just leave me
breathe into me and make me real
    bring me to life

    (Wake me up)
    Wake me up inside
    (I can’t wake up)
    Wake me up inside
    (Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
    (Wake me up)
    bid my blood to run
    (I can’t wake up)
    before I come undone
    (Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

    Bring me to life
(I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside)
    Bring me to life

frozen inside without your touch without your love darling only you are the life among the dead

    all this time I can’t believe I couldn’t see
kept in the dark but you were there in front of me
I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems
got to open my eyes to everything
without a thought without a voice without a soul
    don’t let me die here
    there must be something more
    bring me to life

    (Wake me up)
    Wake me up inside
    (I can’t wake up)
    Wake me up inside
    (Save me)
call my name and save me from the dark
    (Wake me up)
    bid my blood to run
    (I can’t wake up)
    before I come undone
    (Save me)
save me from the nothing I’ve become

    (Bring me to life)
I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside
    (Bring me to life)

    1. I’ve missed him too, and this vid also got me thinking about him! since netflix is due to take MI-5 off it’s streaming service I’ve been thinking that I should at least buy season 7 for myself. but those last few episodes of season 9 are really good too (as is the first episode of that season). and now season 8, which I generally don’t like b/c of Sarah, should be considered as well b/c of these emotional scenes that relate to his time in prison. gah! why can’t money grow on trees?

  2. Fantastic video. I love it! I got the chance a few years ago to buy – at a much reduced price – the first six seasons of Spooks (MI-5) after I had already seen Series 7 & 8. I have two copies of each of these – just in case you know? 😉 I also bought series 9 only because of Richard’s incredible acting, not for the story line (he will always be Lucas North to me no matter what the writers did with his character) and also series 10. I saw the last series on TV but haven’t actually opened it since it came. I wonder why? I lost interest when Lucas was gone but only wanted to complete the set.

    1. you have extra copies of seasons 7 & 8 because you want to give them to me, that’s why! they’ve been waiting, all alone and unloved, until the day that netflix screwed me over and I was in need of them *cue uplifting music* LOL! I’m kidding (they’d be diff’t regions anyway). that’s the thing about season 9 though, isn’t it? that Richard’s acting is so incredible in it, even though the story line is depressing. and I thought I’d lose interest in season 10 b/c Lucas wasn’t there too, but Demetri was a fine substitute 😀

      1. Believe me – ALL copies of everything I own that Richard is in are jealously guarded! I started by buying two sets of the Robin Hood series as a family with two teenaged daughters couldn’t get enough of them. They would watch them over and over – sometimes for months on end, even though they were always returned to me eventually! I just can’t be without any of his work for any length of time so have duplicates of almost everything although in the case of North and South I have 4 copies. This I’m sure you will understand! 😉 *sigh* I occasionally lend one of them out but only to friends who will take care of them, knowing what they mean to me! 😉 Oh dear! That all sounds very obsessive doesn’t it? Sadly I don’t have “The Golden Hour” so may have to rectify that deficiency one day – if I can still find it! 🙂 At least I can still watch it on YouTube!!!

And yes – I did like Demetri but can’t forgive them for “killing” Tariq. Sooo unnecessary. 😦

        1. I’ve read of quite a few fans having multiple copies of the North & South dvd to lend out. I don’t lend things out b/c they do end up getting lost or broken (my MIL’s dog ate one of my “Outlander” books once. I was so mad b/c it was one of the older covers that you can’t find anymore! I eventually found it on e-bay though and she paid to replace it) but the practical part of me can’t see owning more than one copy. sometimes I buy movies though just so I know I have them, then I never watch them. weird. and I agree about Tariq, I really liked him!

  3. Oh, wow. Just watched it a couple of times in a row, couldn’t help myself. Very reaffirming, in a way. The video is captivating, the man is captivating. See, I’m not insane, after all! Just helpless when it comes to Richard Armitage. LOL

    1. reaffirming, yes! I was watching a “best of” vid of Christian Bale (professional one) and I thought “why do we not have anything like this? *grr*” and then low and behold I saw this vid on twitter! not only was it what I happened to be looking for in that moment but it also highlights some really dramatic moments from his career. SO GOOD! (especially the Lucas “I owe you nothing” bit 😎 )

  4. I really liked the way you described this video, Kelly. This is the only one I have seen featuring Richard’s work that seriously showcases several of his characters and their dark internal struggles. It was very well done too. I love, love, loved it!!

  5. Powerful performances. RA can be a bit scary and overwhelming, can’t he? Had to go play my favorite RA happy dance video which is a good way to start the day anyway. Also, did I miss more of your 55 Reasons British Men are Bloody Gorgeous? I haven’t seen any since #4 on Jan. 5.
    Here’s the happy dance link.
