Fanvid Friday: Endlessly

multi-character fanvid by Vogon Fan Vids

Thornton, Guy, Lucas, John Standring, and…Ian. We don’t see him much, do we? I like when lesser known characters are thrown into the mix. It’s a welcome surprise.

Hopelessly I’ll love you endlessly
Hopelessly I’ll give you everything
But I won’t give you up
I won’t let you down
And I won’t leave you falling
If the moment ever comes

That first chorus really does an excellent job of capturing the eyes and the intensity that goes along with them.

and that pattern persists throughout the rest of the video too. I love the eyes. okay, I’m going to go watch it again!

Music & More Challenge

17.) a romantic fanfiction

Journey by gusmi

This is a fluffy story consisting solely of the honeymoon from North & South. It’s not very long and doesn’t have much actual plot, but I enjoy it because of the feelings of “new love” that it provokes.

Propriety is very important to Margaret but all the new sensations that have been awakened in her by John are warring with that principal. There is a sweet sensuality revolving around simple pleasures like touching each other’s skin and the freedom to caress whenever the mood strikes, etc.

There is a scene in the very first chapter when they’re on the train and John has dozed off. Margaret is resting her hand upon his shirt and suddenly has a curious desire to touch his skin. The sense of forbidden wonder, from Margaret who is attempting it and John who is feigning sleep just so he can feel it, is addicting!

There are a lot of “you mean the world to me” sentiments but the way that the author chooses to describe what John and Margaret are thinking and feeling has a flow that is almost poetic at times. This is one of the first fanfics I read in this fandom and I go back to it from time to time when I need a quick fix 🙂

music question: a favorite love song

These Arms of Mine by Otis Redding

This song is full of heartache and yearning and I feel it in my chest each time that I listen. It doesn’t make me feel sad necessarily, but just the wanting.

Fanvid Friday: Romantic Moments

Romantic Moments Valentine Video by Angela Smith

After yesterday’s Esquire video, I almost forgot what day it was. I even forgot to eat dinner! So I asked my daughter to make something for me, she made me an ice-cream sundae. vanilla not chocolate 😉

This video was a nice way to come down off my high and become grounded again. Grounded by the reminder of what Richard does so well, how he infuses life into each and every one of his characters. The music chosen for this fanvid is soothing and helps set the perfect mood for the romantic scenes chosen. There is a nice balance of talking parts and silent parts as well.

I especially like that Alec Track was included in this montage, because he’s not often thought of as romantic. I like his confident step as he walks up to kiss Jane in the street, and then you can hear the lament in his voice later on when he says that he thought he had lost her.

And, of course, there is Mr. Thornton.

I will always look back at you, Sir.

always ❤

Electric Thornton

…the expression of a well-made man

appears not only in his face,

It is in his limbs

and joints also,

it is curiously in the joints

of his hips and wrists,

It is

in his walk,

the carriage

of his neck,

the flex of his

waist and knees,

dress does not hide him,

The strong sweet quality he has

strikes through the cotton and broadcloth,

To see him pass

conveys as much as the best poem,

perhaps more,

You linger to see his back,

and the back of his neck

and shoulder-side.

…O I say these are not the parts and poems of the body only,

but of the soul, O I say now these are the soul!

Chastity vs. Lust

The 7 Heavenly Virtues vs. The 7 Deadly Sins

*do I need a bible for this?*
*do I need a bible for this?*

No, this isn’t a theology lesson 😛 I thought it might be interesting to assign different Richard Armitage characters to the various virtues and sins by matching up their individual traits. I will try to pick the character that embodies the definition best so no one character is used more than once; it’s not fair to use Guy for all the evil ones!

*damn straight*
*damn straight*

So, let’s start with: Chastity vs. Lust

abstaining from sexual conduct according to one’s state in life; the practice of courtly love and romantic friendship. cleanliness through cultivated good health and hygiene. to be honest with oneself, one’s family, one’s friends, and to all of humanity. embracing of moral wholesomeness and achieving purity of thought through education and betterment. the ability to refrain from being distracted and influenced by hostility, temptation or corruption.

That has John Thornton written all over it!

The Master of the Mill follows social etiquette when pursuing a lady.

He respects and values her friendship, not just her looks and status.

"who made these BUNS? these BUNS here, did you make them?"
“who made these BUNS? these BUNS here, did you make them?”

Mr. Thornton is a cultivated and upstanding citizen who maintains a loving relationship with his family.

He possesses a vigorous mind that is always striving for more.

"what are you talking about?"
“what are you talking about?”

This mill-boss will not be bullied,

neither by his workers or his colleagues.

"whoever *they* are"
“whoever *they* are”

intense desire.

can take the form of knowledge, sex, power, food, or fame.

lust is a powerful psychological force producing intense wanting.

My pick for this one is: Lee

Mainly because he’s ruled by his hormones,

Flirty Girty cheater that he is.

"they Frenchify it"
“they Frenchify it”

and I wanted to save Guy

for a different sin…

"oh, let's not go there"
“oh, let’s not go there”

Is it possible to switch these around?

Does Lee share any of Chastity’s traits?

Good Health and Hygiene maybe, but that’s about it!

I just wanted an excuse to post this pic
I just wanted an excuse to post this pic

Does John share any of the Lust traits?

While he does strive for excellence, I don’t think he necessarily lusts for power or fame.

So, in conclusion: John Thornton is every mother’s dream,

"that's not your hair? it's a really good wig!"
“that’s not your hair? it’s a really good wig!”

while Lee

is every father’s nightmare.

*do you come with Tartar Sauce? because you're quite the catch*

Which characters would you pick for Chastity and Lust?
