Richard Armitage 30 day challenge
4.) Q: your least favorite character
A: Heinz Kruger
There are so many rakish characters that Richard Armitage has played to choose between as “least favorite”. It’s difficult though, because he always seems to portray characters in a way that finds me peeling back the layers and sympathizing with them.
Heinz doesn’t really give us a lot of time or dialogue to get to know him. I suspect he’s a patriot and a dedicated scientist, though it’s not clear which holds more weight for him personally.
I don’t despise Heinz, he does have his moments.
He’s just the one I’m able to pick apart the least.
The thumb, the thumb… 😉

I have to watch Captain America! My husband says, “your boy is in that?” (That’s how he refers to RA – “your boy”) *shrugs*. Anyway, I say yes and describe the character, and he just looks at me blankly – the nerve of the man not to recognize “my boy” !

he had a gun, guys remember those things, don’t they?

I think they remember the guns more than the people holding them. Next time I’ll say, “he’s the one with Luger”.

oh, impressive! I didn’t know what type of gun that was. being an RA fan is so educational 🙂

Heinz was so evil, I did not even recognise RA in him at all – I saw the movie in the cinema and never realised that Armitage played him. That leaves only one interpretation: masterful acting!

but see, again, he makes me dig deeper: the way Heinz is so interested in the experiment, you can tell by the look on his face that it’s more than just fighting for his country

My hubby said with satisfaction in his voice “not this time”…you know, I’m always saing that one day Richard wins Oskar.

never give up hope! it took my “other guy”, Christian Bale, 25 years to get that Oscar, but he finally did

yes, he did his first big movie, “Empire of the Sun” (one of my absolute favorites) when he was 13. he’s made most of his career doing the “Independent” movies, where character/plot was more important than recognition value.
it’s a hard thing to balance I’d imagine, doing the character-driven projects that you want to do vs the bigger budget movies that will get your name recognized. I hope Richard is able to find a good balance. 🙂
